Between the 1940's and 1970's, Chronographe Suisse (Swiss Chronograph) was a major parts supplier to a number (over 500) of the big houses of Swiss watchmaking, provided inexpensive (generic) chronograph watches and parts for brands to adopt and add their name. Chronographe Suisse sold watches with in-house “Chronographe Suisse” branding as well.


"They were particularly popular with tourists visiting Switzerland in the 1950s and 1960s, looking to take home a piece of fine Swiss watchmaking on a budget - they looked like a million bucks back then, and they still do today!"


In 18K solid rose gold, this is a very pristine timepiece. It is a vintage Chronographe Suisse wristwatch dated from the 1950s. It has a manual wind chronograph movement caliber Venus 170, 17 jewels, 60s/45min pillar wheel sub second, Swiss made.


It still has the original gold color dial with bold Arabic Numerals, minute tracks and blue steel hands. Also, the dial has the Tachymeter counter on it. 37mm round case, all in 18K rose gold. It is coming with a new-old-stock Hadley-Roma Genuine Italian Calfskin two-piece strap.


It is a very good looking wristwatch. After 70 years, it is still an unique watch, it is in good condition, keeps good time and runs very well.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women's watches from the 1900s-1970s were also somewhat smaller than today’s offerings in many cases. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size. 


We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that. 


The condition is pre-owned. 

The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
